The 250 g bar sits in the middle of the range: about eight troy ounces of fine silver, in a block that still fits in the palm of a hand.
It brings the price per gram down compared with smaller bars, without committing to a kilo in one piece. If you expect to sell gradually, several 250 g bars are more flexible than a single 1 kg bar.
Refiner’s mark, weight, purity and serial number. Bars from refiners on the London Bullion Market Association’s lists are the easiest to resell, because every dealer recognises them.
Silver is bulky for its value. Keep bars dry, away from rubber and sulphur, which cause tarnish, ideally in their original packaging.
