The Vienna Philharmonic is the bullion coin of the Austrian Mint, and the best-known silver coin issued in the euro area. Its face value is expressed in euros, which makes it a familiar piece for European buyers.
One side shows the great organ of the Musikverein, the concert hall in Vienna; the other gathers the instruments of the orchestra: a cello, violins, a horn, a bassoon and a harp. The design has hardly changed since the series began, which helps anyone checking a coin against a reference.
One troy ounce of fine silver at 999 thousandths. As with every bullion coin, the price is set by the silver market plus a premium, and the premium tends to be lower on the most widely traded coins.
Philharmonics are often sold in tubes of twenty. If you plan to buy several, keep them in their tube: coins in original packaging are quicker to check and resell.
