Bar or coin?
A one-ounce bar and a one-ounce coin contain the same amount of gold. The bar usually carries a slightly lower premium; the coin is sometimes easier to sell to a private buyer. Many people hold both.
What to check
Refiner, weight, purity and serial number, plus the certificate or seal. Bars from recognised refiners are accepted by every dealer.
