The 20-franc Marianne Rooster, often simply called a Napoléon in France like every 20-franc gold piece, shows Marianne wearing a Phrygian cap on one side and a rooster on the other. It is one of the most traded gold coins in France.
6.45 g of gold at 900 thousandths, or 5.81 g of fine gold, exactly the same as the other 20-franc pieces of the Latin Monetary Union. That is why Napoléons of different types trade at very similar prices.
It is a small, liquid gold coin: easy to buy one at a time, easy to sell in France and in neighbouring countries. Its price follows the gold market, plus a premium that varies with demand.
In France, investment gold is exempt from VAT on purchase. Selling is subject to specific tax rules, which are worth checking before you sell.
